in the shade of garden flowers...
it was a very warm summer day! tippi and farfar spent most of the day in the shade of the zinnias, nasturtiums and poppies sipping peach nectar and planning a garden village picnic. they decided fresh fruit salad, carrot bread and sun tea would make for a very enjoyable feast. tippi and farfar had a lot of gathering and preparing to do! ~if you would like to make some refreshing iced tea in your backyard, this is all you need: a glass jar, cold water, a few teabags and a warm sunny spot! let your tea brew in the sun until it looks nice and brown. just add ice! other additions might include; sugar or honey, lemon and orange slices or fresh mint leaves... just what you need on a hot summer day.

a fairy needs a house...
"farfar, do you think garden fairies live in houses?" asked tippi. "i don't know my dear tippi... let's build a house and leave it for the fairies." replied farfar. so tippi and farfar searched garden village for building materials. tippi found some extra-special beautifully colored stones and left them inside the little house for the fairies to enjoy. do you think the fairies will like their new home? ~what can you find in your backyard, the park, the forest, the desert and even the seaside to construct a fairy house? here is a great link full of ideas! www.fairyhouses.com (lightbeam publishing)

meet scarlett, the little red bird...
scarlett is tippi's pet bird. she loves to sit in her nesty basket that tippi made from an acorn and some notions from the sewing tin. scarlett enjoys swinging on a branch on the peach tree, as the breezes fluff up her lovely feathers. she sings a happy tune on this beautiful summer day. tweet-a-tweet! ~would you like to share some nesting materials with the birds in your garden? here is some information to get you started... go to practicalherbalist.com/bird-nest-material-basket. your bird friends will thank you!
